Peter Winograd

Violin

Violinist Peter Winograd has appeared in recital and as a soloist with orchestras throughout the United States and Europe in such cities as Brussels, Helsinki, Bonn and in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. He was First Prize Winner of the Aspen Music Festival Competition, Paganini Competition and the Bryan Young Artist Competition. Recent concerto appearances have included the Pueblo Symphony in Colorado, the North Carolina Symphony, the Hartford Symphony and the Toscanini Orchestra in Parma, Italy. He has appeared as a soloist at Alice Tully Hall in New York and made his solo Carnegie Hall debut in 1987 in a performance of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto.

As first violinist of the American String Quartet, he performs in annual chamber music tours of North America, the capitals of Europe and at the Aspen Music Festival. He has recorded extensively with the quartet, including a recent release of the complete string quartets of Mozart on the Musical Heritage Masters label. Mr. Winograd is graduate of The Juilliard School where he studied with famed violin pedagogue Dorothy DeLay and serves on the faculty of the Manhattan School of Music and the Aspen Music School.
